July 2015 - Lake Wylie Events

 

7/2 Thursday  -        Allison Creek Bluegrass       , first and third Thursday of each month, corner of Hands Mill Road and Allison Creek Road.  Different bands are featured each night, along with open jam sessions.  Food is available beginning 6:30pm. 

 

7/3 Friday 7pm - 10:30pm:  Red, White and BOOM festival and fireworks in Rock Hill.  Celebrate Independence Day with this 4th of July event, one day early!  See        Only in Old Town        for list of activities.

7/3 - Friday - Get an early start on Fourth of July celebration in  downtown Belmont .  Independence Day celebration begins at 7pm with Friday Night Live Music, with fireworks show starting at 9:45 .

 

7/4 Saturday - Get ready for a full 4th of July day in Tega Cay!  9am Land Parade in Tega Cay, followed by 11am Canoe Joust on Lake Wylie at Windjammer Park.  Lake Wylie 4th of July Boat Parade begins at 11am at Nivens Creek, circling around to Windjammer Park in Tega Cay.  Ski Show starts at 1pm, viewing from the lake and Windjammer Park.  Fish Fry by the Tega Cay Lions Club at 4:30, then finally fireworks over Lake Wylie from the Tega Cay clubhouse.  Check out the  Tega Cay 4th of July   website for full details and locations. 

 

7/4 Saturday 9:30pm – Annual 4th of July fireworks display celebrating Independence Day, coordinated by the  Lake Wylie Chamber   .

 

7/4 Saturday 10pm - Celebrate America at the biggest firework show of the season at  Carowinds !  Enjoy the day with thrill rides and shows and cap off the evening with 4th of July fireworks.

 

7/5 Sunday 10pm - Didn't get your fill of 4th of July fireworks?  Enjoy Nights of Fire fireworks at Carowinds through August 9.

 

7/11 Saturday:   Inspired by ZimSculpt, the garden art exhibit at the        Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden       , you can learn about wildlife in Zimbabwe and see a special wildlife exhibit.

 

7/14 Tuesday 6:30pm:  Every second Tuesday of the month, free concerts in Fewell Park in Rock Hill.  Bring a picnic and lawn chair.  See        Only in Old Town        for list of performers, through August.

Upcoming - Mark your Calendars!

 

8/1 Saturday:   "Wild Wings" at the    Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden   .  Nope, they're not serving buffalo wings.  Wildlife biologist Susan Campbell is returning for the annual Hummingbird trip, where visitors can observe as she catches, bands, and releases hummingbirds.

9 /6 Sunday  - Labor Day celebration at the  US National Whitewater Center   in Charlotte!  Free live music, fireworks, food and fun.  You can see the fireworks from the north end of Lake Wylie.

 

9/26 Saturday  - Uncorked regional and national wine tastings and free live music at the  US National Whitewater Center   in Charlotte!  Fun filled day prior to the sampling with a 5K Wild Vine trail race.

 

10/10 Saturday  - Wrap up the season at the  US National Whitewater Center   in Charlotte!  Bring Your Own Boat competition, obstacle race, and free live music.
